Meet Your Partners
David Musto
David Musto is an engineer by trade and a mentor by heart. As the founder of Mason Point, David leverages over 25 years of entrepreneurial leadership to identify and invest in businesses, serving as a catalyst for the next generation of leaders.
David’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1998 when he co-founded Thermo Systems. Over a quarter-century, he applied his engineering mindset to scale the firm from a two-person startup into an
international automation powerhouse with 400+ employees across four countries. Throughout this growth, David discovered that his most impactful work wasn’t in designing control systems, it was in enabling culture and empowerment.
Today, David focuses his passion on the "human" side of engineering. Through Mason Point, he provides a long-term home for businesses where culture and stewardship are paramount. He is dedicated to sharing his lessons learned, coaching junior leaders to bridge the gap between technical expertise and executive excellence.
David holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and serves on the boards of Thermo Systems, Independence Premium Foods, and the Eagle Valley Community Foundation.
Mason Tegg
Mason Tegg is an investor by training with an operator’s mindset. As a member of the Mason Point team, Mason supports the firm’s investment efforts while working alongside leadership teams to strengthen execution and drive long-term growth.
Prior to Mason Point, Mason worked at Lazard and Carlson Private Capital. In these roles, he partnered with management teams of founder-and-family-owned mid-sized manufacturing and service businesses. This work provided a firsthand view into the challenges of scaling businesses, the importance of doing right by employees and customers, and the weight of long-term decision making.
In parallel with Mason Point, Mason supports Thermo Systems, collaborating closely with senior leadership on the execution of strategic initiatives.
Raised in Minnesota in a family of engineers, Mason brings a mindset of humility, continuous improvement and service. He believes the best businesses are built through patient ownership, and deep respect for the people who make the work possible.
Mason holds a BS in Financial Management from the University of St. Thomas.
